Many job-seekers think that there are basically only few ways for Job Search: Resumes, Ads, and Placement Agencies. Actually, there are several other methods also:
1. By using the online methods to look for job-postings or to post one's own resume. (Success rate may be very less)
2. Sending resumes to employers at random. (Success rate may be very less)
3. By replying to ads in professional or trade journals.(Success rate may be very less )
4. Answering local newspaper ads. (Success rate average and depends on salary you demand)
5. Depending on private employment agencies.(Success rate limited to salary demanded)
6. Taking a Civil Service exam. (Success rate limited)
7. Consulting a former Professor for job-leads. (Success rate limited)
8. Employment Exchange (Success rate avearge)
9. Depending family members, friends, or professionals you know for job-leads. (Success rate average)
10. Visiting any employer or office that interests you, whether they are known to you or not,have a vacancy or not. (Success rate better)
11. By using Yellow Pages to identify fields that interest you, then calling employers in those fields to see if they're hiring for the kind of work you can do. (Success rate better)
12. Find out the best skills in you, collect information about organizations in your field; use your personal contacts to get in touch with the person responsible for appointments. (Success rate)
Researchers finds that one third of all job seekers never find a job because they give up too early. Most of the job searchers who use only one method of job-search stop their search within a short period. Researchers suggest that job-search success increases with each additional method you use, but only up to three methods. If you use five or more of the methods listed above, job-search success tends to decrease.
Don't just use one method use up to three methods to get the best results.
